The people studying abroad in 2024 don’t have two heads, neither are they richer than you (YES THIS IS TRUE), they just know something you don’t
International exchange programs are a great way to study or live abroad for a set period, typically a semester or a year.
Keep reading to unlearn FOUR misconceptions about exchange programs and how to get started as a graduate or undergraduate even with a 2.2.
1. “Exchange programs are only for the rich and famous.”
Scholarships, grants, and even work-study options are out there waiting to help you offset the costs. Financial aid is way more accessible than you think, bruh.
2.“My brain will explode trying to keep up with classes in another country.”
Most programs are designed to work with your home university, so you can blend in academically without a hitch. Plus, your credits usually transfer back home, so no sweat there.
3. “Speaking the local language is a must.” —Chill out
While language skills are a bonus, many programs cater to students who aren’t fluent. Imagine the fun of picking up a new language while you’re abroad!
4. “I’ll be all alone, with no friends.”
Exchange programs often connect you with other international students and locals. Getting lonely is the last thing you’ll need to worry about.
Now that you have seen there’s no need to panic when it comes to exchange programs,
